    Abstract
Objective:To investigate and compare the relationship between attachment styles and emotional intelligence in normal and delinquent adolescents. Method:The AAI(Adult Attachment Inventory)by Hazan and Shaver(1987), EIS(Emotional Intelligence Scale)by Schutte and etal(1998),was administered to a sample of 168 adolescents(boys aged 15-18 years).78 delinquents living in correctional center of Isfahan, and 90 high school students of isfahan.Analysis of the data involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviation, t-test,correlation coefficient, regression analysis and manova. Results:The results show that attachment styles are associated with emotional intelligence.Secure attachment style was positively associated with emotional intelligence and insecure attachment style(avoidant attachment style)was negatively associated with emotional intelligence. In this research, the significant difference in Attachment styles and Emotional intelligence between the normal and delinquent adolescents indicates the important impact of Parenting Styles,as one of the preventive factors of delinquency in adolescents. Also as an asset for helping them to adjust with changes and stressors.
