Saeid Hamzeh Appointed Vice President for International Affairs of the University of Tehran

Dr. Saeid Hamzeh, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Geography, has been appointed as the new Vice President for International Affairs of the University of Tehran by a decree issued by Dr. Mohammad Hossein Omid, President of the University of Tehran, dated July 31, 2026 (9 Mordad 1405).

The text of the President's appointment decree is as follows:

The University of Tehran, as the symbol of higher education in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the standard-bearer of the nation's scientific leadership, and the heir to Iran's academic tradition, must play an active, strategic, and influential role in the global scientific community as it strives to strengthen its position within the international science and technology landscape. Achieving this vision requires strategic leadership of the University's internationalization process and effective utilization of its outstanding academic, cultural, and civilizational capacities.

In view of your commitment, professional competence, scholarly expertise, and distinguished academic and executive experience in international affairs, I hereby appoint you as Vice President for International Affairs of the University of Tehran for a term of three years.

The mission of this Office is to lead the transformation of the University's internationalization process with the objectives of strengthening the University's scientific leadership, advancing scientific diplomacy, expanding strategic partnerships with leading universities and research institutions worldwide, increasing the recruitment of outstanding international scholars and students, and enhancing the global impact and visibility of the University of Tehran.

It is expected that, with reliance on Almighty God, the valuable contributions of the University's faculty members, researchers, staff, and students, and through constructive engagement with all sectors of the University, you will pursue the following priorities with determination:

• Developing and implementing a comprehensive internationalization strategy for the University and establishing an effective system for its monitoring and evaluation;
• Expanding academic, educational, research, technological, and innovation partnerships with distinguished international universities, institutions, and scientific networks, while increasing the University's participation in joint international initiatives and programs;
• Strengthening the University of Tehran's position as a premier destination for international higher education through the recruitment, support, and empowerment of international students and faculty members;
• Expanding joint academic and research programs, faculty and student exchanges, visiting scholar opportunities, and the co-publication of scientific achievements;
• Reinforcing the University's scientific diplomacy, strengthening engagement with Iranian and international alumni and researchers, and enhancing the University's active presence in international academic networks and organizations;
• Contributing to the improvement of the University of Tehran's standing in internationally recognized global ranking and evaluation systems through the continuous enhancement of its performance in education, research, technology, innovation, and international collaboration.
