Official Statement of the President of the University of Tehran Regarding the Renewed Attacks on Shahid Beheshti University, the Pasteur Institute, and Other Academic and Scientific Centers
“Whoever then acts aggressively against you, inflict injury on him similar to the injury he has inflicted on you.” (Holy Qur’an, 2:194)
The perfidious and criminal Zionist entity, alongside its primary accomplice, the nefarious United States, has once again transgressed against the sanctity of science. In addition to their preceding atrocities, they have targeted Shahid Beheshti University—one of Iran’s preeminent academic institutions—turning a bastion of knowledge into a theater of aggression and destruction. Through these recurrent assaults on scientific hubs, these two belligerent regimes have demonstrated an absolute disregard for humanitarian, academic, and cultural principles, as well as established international conventions and protocols. Their predatory nature and systemic barbarism remain unsated except through devastation, carnage, and encroachment.
Recently, a segment of the academic community—guided by divine teachings and the exalted counsel of the Infallible Imams (PBUH), and in accordance with the veneration of knowledge within Persian-Islamic culture—addressed a communique to the Minister of Science. To safeguard the realms of science and technology, they proposed a policy of restraint regarding academic reciprocity within the region (which categorically excluded the Zionist regime and American interests). While this proposal was subject to justified criticism by certain devoted circles, it has once again become indisputably clear that this illegitimate and expansionist adversary recognizes no principle, logic, or ethical framework, persisting in its inherent belligerence.
The University of Tehran vehemently condemns the renewed strikes by this criminal regime against the scientific and research infrastructures of Shahid Beheshti University and the Pasteur Institute—an institution with over a century of heritage—as well as other academic centers. We unequivocally call upon the nation’s formidable Armed Forces to deploy their maximum capacity and strategic potential to retaliate against these incursions. We demand the imposition of punitive measures upon the aggressors, ensuring these transgressing regimes are held accountable through the potent discourse of national defense.
We pray for the tranquility of the resilient and patient nation of Iran, particularly our esteemed academic community, and wish fortitude and victory for our valiant warriors and the clandestine mujahideen of the battlefield. The University of Tehran remains steadfast in its total support for the national defense apparatus and the noble people of Iran.
“And victory comes only from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise.”
Dr. Mohammad Hossein Omid
President of the University of Tehran
