University of Tehran Condemns "Cowardly" Attacks, Calls for National Unity Amidst Strikes

TEHRAN – In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, the University of Tehran condemned the recent aerial attacks on the Islamic Republic, characterizing them as a "cowardly" act of aggression by the "US-Zionist axis" during the holy month of Ramadan.

The statement, released by the university’s public relations office, asserts that the strikes, which occurred amidst ongoing peace negotiations between Iran and the United States, expose the duplicitous nature of the enemy. "Once again, the treacherous enemy has shown its aggressive nature," the statement reads. "In the middle of the blessed month of Ramadan, it has made our beloved homeland and its fasting people the target of its attacks."

The university draws a parallel to the "Twelve-Day War," suggesting that the historical adversaries of Iran are not genuinely seeking a diplomatic resolution. It specifically accuses the "fake Israeli regime," with the support of the United States, of pursuing expansionist goals, including the "Zionist idea of 'From the Nile to the Euphrates.'"

In response to the strikes, the University of Tehran announced its full solidarity with the nation and its armed forces. It issued a call for "national cohesion and unity against the enemy," urging all segments of society—particularly academics, professional guilds, and the general public—to close ranks.

"We condemn these inhumane attacks and announce our comprehensive support and readiness to back the country's armed forces," the statement continued. Expressing confidence in divine grace, the university added, "We hope that this plot, like all previous ones, will turn into a historic defeat for the aggressors."

Furthermore, the statement makes an appeal to the Islamic world. It calls on Muslim nations, particularly through the lens of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to recognize the perceived threat. Arguing that the expansionist aims of Israel have become increasingly clear and endanger the entire region, the statement urges Islamic countries to strengthen their unity and take measures to prevent what it describes as the gradual realization of the "ominous idea" of a greater Israel.
