Iran Ranks Among Top Islamic Nations in Cloud and Edge Computing Research, New Report Shows

Tehran, Iran – A recent report published by the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) has detailed the scientific production of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other Islamic nations in the critical fields of cloud and edge computing technologies.

The report, titled “The Global Standing of Scientific Production of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic Countries: Cloud and Edge Computing Technologies,” was disseminated to universities, research institutions, and higher education centers across the country for review and utilization.

According to the ISC, which holds a permanent mandate for monitoring and evaluating science and technology in the Islamic world, the report specifically assesses the scientific output of Iran and fellow Islamic countries in several key technological layers. These include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), as well as emerging paradigms like serverless computing, fog computing, and multi-access edge computing (MEC).

The study underscores the strategic importance of cloud and edge computing technologies. By analyzing scientific publications, it aims to map the research footprint and competencies within the Islamic world in these foundational digital sectors.

The ISC expressed hope that through enhanced planning and collaboration, the findings could contribute to elevating the standing of Iranian and regional science, technology, and innovation on both national and international stages.

The full report and other publications by the ISC are accessible to the public through the institute's official portal, facilitating broader access to this research data.
