Chinese Tsinghua University delegation visits UT Faculty of Environment
As part of the University of Tehran’s strategic vision to strengthen scientific diplomacy and expand international research cooperation, the Faculty of Environment hosted a high-level delegation from the Research Institute for Environmental Innovation and Technology (RIET) —affiliated with Tsinghua University in Suzhou, China—on Tuesday, May 27,2025.
The visiting delegation included Xin Yao , Vice President of RIET; Li Yue , Director of the Green Development Research Center; and Li Qianhong , Senior Research Fellow. Their visit aimed to explore opportunities for academic, scientific, and technological collaboration through a formal meeting with the Faculty’s leadership, department heads, and academic staff.
During the meeting, both sides presented an overview of their institutional capacities, strategic research priorities, and key ongoing projects. The Chinese delegation shared insights into RIET’s innovative work in green technologies, environmental policy, and sustainable resource management in China. In turn, faculty members from the University of Tehran introduced their research activities in areas such as climate change, waste management, air and water pollution, and emerging environmental monitoring technologies.
Discussions focused on critical global environmental challenges in the 21st century, including water scarcity, industrial pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change. Both parties emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences in advancing green technologies, enhancing international education, initiating joint research projects, and organizing bilateral workshops and conferences.
Held in a cordial and intellectually engaging atmosphere, the meeting offered a valuable opportunity to deepen the University of Tehran’s relations with one of Asia’s leading environmental research institutes. According to faculty officials, this exchange could pave the way for future Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), academic exchange programs, and collaborative projects addressing regional and global environmental concerns.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides expressed hope that this scientific engagement would mark the beginning of broader and more impactful cooperation—contributing meaningfully to the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the protection of the global environment.
