In the opening ceremony, President of University of Tehran stated, “The purpose of science studies inspired by the Quran is to develop science to achieve material and spiritual happiness. The international conference of Quran and science is the initiator of the new movement in using the Quran to formulate stable scientific assumptions”.

Prof. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of the University of Tehran and President of the International Congress of Quran and Science, on Sunday, May 19, at the opening ceremony of this congress, the Allameh Amini Hall of the University of Tehran, with the presence of domestic and foreign thinkers further added:

“The purpose of the congress is to connect the teachings and verses of the Holy Quran with scientific concepts and theories. Our effort is to review and examine together the challenges and obstacles that exist in the way of communication between the Holy Quran and science in universities.

He also said,” We believe that the Holy Quran, as a comprehensive book for the guidance of mankind, can be a guide for scientific professors and thinkers both in the experimental and intellectual sciences. Researchers of experimental sciences and humanities face challenges when they examine the divine revelations in nature. The first point is that their epistemological tools are not perfect tools. This is why we see a wide range of cognitive methods that are placed in a continuum from positivist or positivist discussions to interpretive methods, and some of these methods are even the opposite. These tools want to evaluate a single thing and each has advantages and disadvantages.

The President of University of Tehran added: The second point is related to the assumptions that are considered and offered by researchers in the academic environment. These assumptions and hypotheses are sometimes unstable, because the sources of information available to the researcher to formulate hypotheses are not complete sources. The third point regarding the research obstacles that researchers are facing is that the data they want to obtain is not comprehensive and complete data at their disposal, or it is definitely not possible with the existing tools to obtain this data completely; Even with the advances made in science and especially artificial intelligence, we cannot speak with confidence that the information sources for formulating hypotheses are comprehensive and complete sources.

Prof. Moghimi explaine,” When a researcher wants to enter a research field and set up a conceptual model and guide table for his work, he acts based on previous studies and sources that he has and based on that, he writes down his assumptions. What is certain, and of course the results we see in the war of paradigms, show that these theories are constantly shifting and we are constantly witnessing the shift of paradigms. This in itself shows that these data do not have sufficient mastery.

The President of the Congress on International Quran and Science added: The fourth point is that the processing mind of researchers is not a mind with unlimited capacity that can compare all data at once and finally reach a specific scenario in their research.

Our claim in this congress is that the researchers of experimental and rational sciences need specific methods for formulating their hypotheses and following their research path and for using research and study tools in nature, and they should definitely refer to it for development.

In referring to the Holy Quran, they also need to go through such a process and must overcome these challenges in order to benefit more from the verses of the Holy Quran. We believe that just as we use the divine verses in nature, we should use the Holy Book of the Quran as a source of revelation for studying nature.
