Vice-President for International Affairs of University of Tehran meets with Vice-President of Peking University

Prof. Elham Aminzadeh, Vice-President for International Affairs of University of Tehran who is now  in China, in a meeting with Professor Fang, Vice President of Peking University, emphasized the need to comprehensively expand exchanges between the two top universities of Iran and China.

In this meeting, which was held in the ceremonial hall of Peking University, Aminzadeh, referring to the capacities of the Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran and Peking Universities, added: UT is ready to provide scholarships to distinguished students of Peking University at different stages and at the same time it is hoped that interaction with this scientific center of China will include other specialized fields, including technical and engineering, in addition to the fields of humanities.

She also described UT as the best center for teaching Chinese language and literature in Iran and, referring to the program of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and Literature to launch a master's course in this field, she requested cooperation with Peking University in this field.

The VP for  International  Affairs of University of Tehran stated that UT is fully prepared to expand the fields of cooperation with Peking University and said that Peking University and UT can implement this by establishing a joint research center.

Aminzadeh also referred to the status of Peking University Library and called for cooperation between Tehran and Peking University libraries.

She emphasized: In the current atmosphere of the international system and the major turmoil that is going on in the evolving multipolar system of the world, the scientific centers of independent countries such as China and Iran should take steps to deepen their relations as soon as possible.

In this meeting, Dr. Fang, Vice President of Peking University, welcomed the positions of Prof. Aminzadeh and expressed the capabilities of Peking University in the expansion of interactive areas with Peking University and said: Peking University has recently had great achievements  in technical and engineering fields and has gained significant results and undoubtedly this will provide more and better fields for the expansion of the fields of cooperation between Beijing and Tehran universities.

He described the presence of Peking University graduates in UT and the activity of UT graduates in Peking University as an important capital for the current and future interactions between the two universities and said: Peking University Persian language Department is one of the first Persian language departments in China. which has always had positive interactions with the University of Tehran and we hope that these relations will be strengthened in other areas as well.

This Peking University official also welcomed Prof. Aminzadeh's suggestions regarding the expansion and deepening of interaction with UT.

After the words of the vice president of Peking University, Dr. Farideh Alavi, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and Literature of the University of Tehran, presented a report on the status of foreign language education at the University of Tehran, demonstrating the importance and diligence of the East Asian Languages ​​and Literature Department at the University of Tehran and considered the efforts of UT to teach Chinese language as a sign of  the significance which is attached to the  teaching Chinese language in the country.

Dr. Alavi also considered the selection of a UT student in the World Chinese Language Olympiad as an indication of the acceptable level of Chinese language education at UT and called for the expansion of the interaction between UT and Beijing in the field of Chinese language and literature education.

In this meeting, Dr. Hamed Vafaei, a graduate of Peking University's doctoral course and Director of the Confucius Institute of UT, was also introduced to the Chinese side as the representative of UT in pursuing interaction with Peking University.

Welcoming this, Dr. Fang expressed his hope that with the continuation of close communication between the two universities of Tehran and Beijing, the programs of the two universities will become operational in new dimensions and provide the interests of both sides.

After this meeting, the delegation of UT, while visiting the main campus of Peking University, visited the Department of Persian Language and Literature and the Iranian Studies Center of Peking University and exchanged opinions with the professors and administrators of this university.
