Professor of Political Science at Lahore University of Management Sciences, met with the Vice President for  International Relations , at University of Tehran

Professor Sikander Shah , at the Department of  Political Science of Lahore University of Management Sciences, met with Prof. Elham Aminzadeh, the Vice President for  International Relations , at University of Tehran .

In  this meeting , Vice President for International Affairs, the University of Tehran stated that UT  has increased its cooperation with regional universities and emphasized on collaboration with neighboring and Asian countries.

She further added that in this context, Pakistan is one of the most important neighboring countries of Iran , however the level of scientific and economic communication between these two countries is far from the ideal situation.

Lahore University of Management Science with a global rank of 540 (based on the Rankings  of 2024 ) is one of the most modern, prominent and prestigious universities in Pakistan, which was established in 1985.

Dr. Sikander Ahmad Shah, Professor of International Law at Lahore University of Management Sciences and former advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, in this meeting, while enumerating the very high capacities in expanding academic relations between the two countries, especially the University of Tehran, expresed his desire for  expanding academic  relations with UT.

Dr. Sikander shah, emphasizing the outstanding position and progress of University of Tehran in the field of higher education, appreciated the historical background of UT in Iran and the region. He listed one of the basic challenges that has caused fewer Pakistani students to go to Iran to study, the lack of information about the favorable condition of Iranian universities, including  University of Tehran.

In the meeting, Dr. Elham Aminzadeh, Vice President for International Affairs, University of Tehran and Abdolmajid Eskandari, Director General ,  Office of International Relations, while welcoming, the most important capacities and opportunities of the two countries of Iran and Pakistan on the one hand and also on the other hand , the important institutions of higher education in the two countries emphasized on expanding scientific and economic relations.

Considering the relatively small number of Pakistani students studying in Iran as well as Iranian students studying in Pakistan, among the most important proposals that were proposed in this meeting by the Vice President for International Affairs of University of Tehran, was the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and student exchange between the two universities.

Based on this, in the near future, the Honorable President of Lahore University of Management Sciences is going to sign this memorandum during his visit to Iran at the invitation of University of Tehran.

Following this visit, Dr. Sikander Ahmad Shah also had a meeting with some faculty members of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of University of Tehran, including Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi, Dr. Bahare Sazmand, Dr. Hossein Nowrozi, and Dr. Mohammad Jaafar Javadi Arjamand, Advisor to the Dean  on International Affairs. The study of relations between the two countries of Iran and Pakistan, the capacities and opportunities of the University of Tehran and especially the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in attracting Pakistani students were also discussed during  the meeting.
