Winners of Knowledge Excellence Medal

According to the Public Relations report of the University of Tehran, in the first ceremony of awarding the Knowledge Excellence Medal, which was held on the evening of Monday, May 29, 2023, in the presence of Dr. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of University of Tehran, Dr. Hossein Ghanaati , President of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and Dr. Reza Pourhossein, Secretary of the Knowledge Excellence Medal, Professors Azam Irji Zad, Abbas Bazargan, Ahmad Reza Dehpour, Ali Akbar Rashad, Abbas Ali Zali, Hossein Safaei, Seyed Kazem Alavi Panah, Mahmoud Fatuhi, Firozabad, Ardeshir Ghavamzadeh, Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Kiai, Mahmood Mehrdad Shokrieh and Mohammad Hossein Nasr Esfahani are honored to receive the Knowledge Excellence Medal.

1. Dr. Azam Irji Zad was born in Tehran in 1965 This excellent professor of physics at Sharif University of Technology, who was a PhD student in physics from the University of Sussex, England, has authored and published more than 150 international scientific research articles. This woman, a scientist of nanotechnology in Iran, has a record of being the Deam of the Faculty of Physics of Sharif University of Technology and being a member of the World Commission on Ethics in Science and Technology of UNESCO. Dr. Irji Zad is also the winner of the Allameh Tabatabai award and is currently the Head of the Comprehensive Research Institute of Convergent Sciences and Technologies of Sharif University of Technology.

2. Dr. Abbas Bazargan Harandi was born in Kerman city in 1941. He has a doctorate in educational research from the University of Chicago and University of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), encyclopedia of statistics from the Indian Institute of Statistics, advanced encyclopedia of educational planning from the International Institute of Educational Planning in Paris (IIEP). Abbas Bazargan is one of the experts in the field of educational evaluation and is the initiator of the quality evaluation system in Iran. He is a professor of the Department of Management and Educational Planning of University of Tehran and the founder of the country's higher education statistical information system at the Institute of Scientific Educational Research and Planning. He is the founder of the Iranian Educational Research Association in 1999, the founder of new fields of study and important scientific centers, the effort to establish the Research Institute of Education and Training, and a member of the editorial board of the international quarterly HIGHER EDUCATION POLICY, and he has numerous scientific works and references in his field of expertise.

3. Dr. Ahmad Reza Dehpour was also born in 1948 in Dilman, Gilan. This distinguished professor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, pharmacologist and medical pharmacology specialist has extensive research on the pathophysiological approach of various diseases. He, who was named the most cited researcher in 2006, has authored and published more than 850 highly cited articles in prestigious international journals. This distinguished professor of the University of Medical Sciences has conducted extensive research in the field of blood cells from a biochemical and biophysical perspective. He also has scientific and applied research with foreign universities. Dr. Dehpour has many titles and awards, among which we can mention the winner of Allameh Tabatabai Festival, an Iranian scientist in the list of one percent of the best scientists in the world, the winner of Razi Festival, the first-ranked researcher of the Ibn Sina Festival and the first-ranked researcher of the Ministry of Health. A member of the Iranian Pharmacology Board and the head of the experimental medicine research center are also among the activities recorded in the scientific and research portfolio of this distinguished professor of  Tehran University of Medical Sciences.  

4.     Professor Ali Akbar Sadeghi Rashad is another prominent scientist who has received the first Knowledge Excellence Medal. Professor Rashad was born in Saveh city in 1956. He is the founder of Imam Reza (a.s.) seminary complex and head of seminaries in Tehran province. Dr. Sadeghi Rashad is a member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution and the head of the support board for theoretical chairs. He is the author of more than forty works in the field of Islamic humanities, the holder of several titles and national awards, including winning the title of "Outstanding Theoretician of the Country" at Farabi International Award, and he is also the winner of the Iran's Book of the Year Awards. Among his honors are receiving the World Prize for Humanities, receiving the "Dehkhoda" scientific badge, winning the title of the selected religious research of the year, and receiving recognition from UNESCO and ICESCO.

5. Dr. Abbas Ali Zali, born in Golpayegan in 1947, received his PhD in plant genetics from the University of California. He is a researcher in the fields of quantitative genetics, plant breeding and genetics, and an expert in planning and policy making in the agricultural sector. He is a member of the Iranian Genetics Association, an active member of the Agriculture and Plant Breeding Association, the Ministry of Agriculture, the head of the Iranian Statistics Center and the head of the Agriculture and Natural Resources College  of University of Tehran. He is also proud to receive the award of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology for research in oilseeds and the Allameh Tabatabai festival award.

6. Dr. Hossein Safaei was born in Qazvin in 1923. He graduated from Sorbonne University in France with a doctorate in private law and is the author and translator of 24 reference books in the field of civil and comparative law. He is a permanent member of Academy of Sciences. He was the head of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of University of Tehran. He is also the author of the family law reference book, which has been reprinted several times. Dr. Safaei has a background in religious sciences. He has won several national and international awards, including the winner of the Allameh Tabatabai Award, Iran's Book of the Year Awards, and the award of the law award in France for his doctorate thesis known as the Louis Mayo Award.

7. Dr. Seyed Kazem Alavipanah was also born in 1948 in Abarkoh city of Yazd province. Dr. Alavi Panah is the founder of Remote Sensing and GIS in Iran, who has won more than 30 national and international awards. Publication of hundreds of articles and authoring of several books, exemplary national professor, exemplary professor of University  of Tehran and prominent researcher of University of Tehran, presentation of the sevenfold charter for coexistence in the future world and elected member of the first intergovernmental panel of the world's soil in the World Food Organization is  among his other honors. He is also one of the five most cited scientists of thermal remote sensing in the world, who presented the theory of "heat, an indicator of the world's intelligence", and a book entitled "Heat, the engine of the universe" was written and published due to his efforts in this field.

8. Mahmoud Fatuhi of Firouzabad was also born in 1959 in the village of Firouzabad, Ashkzar district of Yazd. He graduated with a doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, and has authored and published numerous scientific articles and books in the field of electrical engineering. Professor of Electrical Engineering of Sharif University of Technology, President of Sharif University of Technology, prominent member of IEEE International Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and member of the Academies of Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran and World Sciences (TWAS) in his academic and research career. He is also the holder of several top titles and awards, including the gold medal of the World Organization for the Support of the Elites of WIPO, the winner of the International Khwarazmi Festival Award and the Allameh Tabatabai Award.

9. Dr. Ardeshir Ghavamzadeh was born in 1940 in Tehran. This distinguished professor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences has the first bone marrow transplant operation in Iran. He is also the first doctor to inject lymphoblastic killer cells in Iran. An outstanding professor of blood and oncology, he is the holder of several prestigious national and international titles and awards, including the European Bone Marrow Transplantation Society Award, the World Stem Cell Transplantation International Research Center Award in America, the Allameh Tabatabai Award, the winner of Razi Festival, among these titles and awards. Is. In addition to his valuable scientific and medical researches, Dr. Ghavamzadeh is the head of the Iranian Hematology and Oncology Association, the head of the Blood and Cancer Research Center and Bone Marrow Transplant and founding member of the world's most prominent researchers.

10. Dr. Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Kiai, a veteran professor of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Tehran University, was born in 1936 in Tehran. He has a specialized degree in Poultry Health and Nutrition from Airdyne University in Scotland. This researcher and specialist in poultry health and nutrition designed and formulated a type of food gel to prevent chickens from becoming dehydrated in the hatchery and transport, and participated in the development of a chicken coccidiosis vaccine, and designed and formulated a type of plant growth supplement in chickens in order to remove antibiotics in He has registered poultry food in his scientific and research record. He has also authored and published many articles and books in the field of livestock and poultry health. Continuous membership of Iran Academy of Sciences, Head of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran, and membership in Pathobiology Scientific Pole are also among his scientific and executive activities.

11. Dr. Mahmood Mehrdad Shokrieh, distinguished professor of mechanical engineering at the  Iran University of Science and Technology, was born in Rasht in 1960. This exemplary professor of the country and the winner of the Allameh Tabatabai festival, who is an outstanding specialist in mechanical engineering, had an effective presence in the holy defense engineering department. He, who is an expert in the field of mechanics of composite materials, has made an effective effort in realizing, commercializing and exporting some composite researches. In addition to the aforementioned activities, Dr. Mehrdad Shokrieh is the author of many books and articles in the field of composite mechanics and has an effective presence in the field of composite technology development policy.

12. Dr. Mohammad Hossein Nasr Esfahani was born in Isfahan in 1966 and received a specialized doctorate in reproductive biology from Cambridge University, England. This professor of Royan Research Institute is the founder of Fertility and Infertility Centers in Isfahan. He is also the founder of Royan Biotechnology Research Institute in Isfahan. Dr. Nasr Esfahani, who has recorded important scientific activities in the field of animal cloning, stem cells and genetics in his scientific record, is responsible for the sheep cloning project for the first time in West Asia.
