Ambassador of Pakistan meets with UT President
Mr. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Iran met with Prof. Seyyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of University of Tehran on 8 November, 2022.
The President of University of Tehran emphasized the necessity of cooperation between University of Tehran and Pakistan's major universities through the Eco Scientific Foundation and said: " University of Tehran will host the presidents of Pakistan's major universities."
According to the public relations report of the University of Tehran, Prof. Seyyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of the University of Tehran, today, Tuesday, the 17th of November, in a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Tehran, which was held at the Council Hall of the University of Tehran, expressed his interest in expanding the scientific relationship between Iran and Pakistan. He said: The level of scientific relations between the two countries is not suitable for the level of the relationship between the two nations. Meanwhile, the macro policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes the expansion of scientific and cultural relations with friendly countries such as Pakistan.
The President of the University of Tehran added: In line with the macro policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and also considering the outstanding scientists who are active in the universities of Pakistan, I deeply emphasize the development of scientific relations between Iran and Pakistan. ECO, whose headquarters is located in Pakistan, talks were held to develop relations between Iranian and Pakistani universities through this scientific foundation, and it was decided that this foundation would start negotiations with Pakistani universities.
Stating that there are many fields of scientific cooperation between the universities of the two countries, Prof. Moghimi noted: We need a road map to expand the scientific and cultural relations between Iran and Pakistan, and the University of Tehran is ready to play a role as a bridge between the universities of Iran and Pakistan
The President of University of Tehran added: We are ready to meet the presidents of major Pakistani universities in University of Tehran and implement action plans to develop relations and expand our scientific relations bilaterally and multilaterally.
Referring to the establishment of the secretariat of the meeting of presidents of 14 top Iranian universities in the University of Tehran, he said: Through this institution, good relations have been established between the top universities of Iran and other countries, among which we can mention the union of the top universities of Iran and Russia. Also, in the meeting with the Chinese ambassador, it was decided to organize a union between Chinese and Iranian universities, although the main proposal that was made was that due to the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Organization, a union of Shanghai member universities should also be established.
Prof. Moghimi further mentioned the use of study opportunities by the professors of the universities of Tehran and Pakistan and the definition of joint research projects as the agenda of joint cooperation between the universities of Iran and Pakistan and said: We know that there are international first-rate scientists as well as good scientific progress in Pakistani universities. I consider the success of Pakistani scientists as the success of the Islamic world.
In a part of his speech, although the people of Pakistan are noble and friendly people of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), he pointed to the long-standing relations between the two nations of Iran and Pakistan and added: Pakistan, a friendly country, is always among the priorities of the Islamic Republic in terms of political, economic and social cooperation. It was Iran and no factor has been able to weaken this cultural and social bond between two countries and two nations.
According to the public relations report of University of Tehran, Mr. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Pakistan's ambassador to Iran, while explaining the depth of cultural relations between Iran and Pakistan, announced his readiness to grant scholarships to Iranian students in order to study at the bachelor's and master's degrees in Urdu language.
He emphasized on taking a practical step for the exchange of professors and students between the universities of Iran and Pakistan and providing short-term study opportunities for the researchers of the two countries.
According to this report, Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, Vice President for International Affairs, University of Tehran, Prof. Ali Akbar Mousavi Mohadi, Head of the Secretariat for Islamic World Science Advancement, Prof.. Taher Roshandel Arbatani, Dean of Faculty of Management, Dr. Kiyomarthi, Head of the Department of Urdu Language, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, Mrs. Azam Lotfi A member of the academic staff of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature and Eskandari, Director General, Office of International Relations were present in this meeting and discussed the opportunities for joint scientific and cultural cooperation.
