President of the Islamic University of Lebanon meets with UT President

On 20 July, a meeting was held between Prof. Hassan Hassan Al-Qais ,President of the Islamic University of Lebanon and Prof. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of University of Tehran. In that meeting , Prof. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi said, "Although we have high-level political relations with our friends and brothers in Lebanon, unfortunately we have not been able to maintain and develop our level of scientific relations at that political level.

Lebanon is a country that is at the forefront of the Resistance and should be supported scientifically by the Islamic Republic of Iran and the University of Tehran, so we believe that the level of academic relations with Lebanon should be promoted.Referring to the conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country regarding the establishment of a branch of University of Tehran in Lebanon, he said: It was decided to send a delegation from  University of Tehran to Beirut to discuss the implementation of the establishment of a branch of University of Tehran.    

Dr. Moghimi added: We have presented a plan under the title of joint consortium with Iran's top universities so that each of the country's top universities can cooperate in setting up a branch of University of Tehran in Lebanon.

In a meeting which was held in the presence of the President of Qom University at Tehran University, Prof. Moghimi noted: Qom University has many disciplines in the field of humanities and Islamic sciences and has professors who are related to seminaries. . We are interested in using the cooperation of Qom University to establish a branch of University of Tehran in Lebanon.

Pointing out that University of Tehran has 48,000 students, 2,200 faculty members, 976 majors, 52 faculties and ranks between 300 and 400 in the Shanghai ranking, Dr. Moghimi said: 28,000 students of our University are engaged in studying master's and doctoral degrees.

Following the request of the President of the Islamic University of Lebanon to grant scholarships to a number of Lebanese students at the University of Tehran, the President of the University of Tehran said: We are interested in considering the possibility of giving scholarships to Lebanese Shiites at the University of Tehran at the discretion of the Islamic University of Lebanon. Currently, in addition to giving special discounts on tuition fees for students from Iraq and Afghanistan, we also give them scholarships.

Prof. Moghimi added: We consider the success and progress of our brothers and sisters in Lebanon as our success and we hope that joint scientific cooperation between Iranian and Lebanese universities can be beneficial for both countries.

In the end, emphasizing the exchange of experiences and joint cooperation between Iranian and Lebanese professors, he noted: We are ready to welcome Lebanese professors in the form of short-term courses and study opportunities, as well as joint research and specialized meetings to examine the issues of the resistance front and Islamic countries with peers. We will hold a Lebanese.

President  of Islamic University of Lebanon welcomed the remarks  by Prof. Moghimi and  confirmed the interest of his university to broaden academic ties with University of Tehran in various fields of interest.

Prof. Hassan Al-Qais, President of the Islamic University of Lebanon, also stated in this meeting: Even though the Islamic Republic of Iran has been sanctioned for decades, it has been able to achieve scientific progress through innovation and we acknowledge these developments.

We also try to move in the same direction. We want to improve and develop ourselves. We want to expand the Islamic University of Lebanon by increasing scientific groups and improving laboratories.

He stated that the Islamic University of Lebanon has 16 thousand students, 4 campuses and 8 faculties including the faculties of engineering, health, law, science, engineering, political and administrative sciences, tourism and Islamic studies. Islamic University of Lebanon announced its readiness..

Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, Vice President for  International Affairs of  the University of Tehran,  said: University of Tehran, as a symbol of higher education in the country, has branches in Qom, Karaj, Fuman, Kish and Jolfa, which can accommodate many students from Lebanon.

Expressing his desire to expand cooperation with Lebanese universities, he referred to cooperation in some fields and added: University of Tehran  in Kish is looking for partner universities in the field of marine sciences and marine economy. It is also possible to provide the necessary conditions for studying opportunities for the professors of the  Islamic Universities of Lebanon.

Dr. Abdulreza Saif, the Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities and Dr. Zahra Imam Juma, the Dean  of Aras International Campus , University of Tehran  were also present in this meeting.
