Japanese UT former faculty member and  mother of Iranian martyr passes away

Saba Babai (Koniko Yamamura), the Japanese mother of Iranian martyr Mohammad Babai passed away on Friday.

She is the mother of Mohammad Babaei who was martyred during the Saddam’s western-backed imposed war in the 1980s.

Yamamura chose the name Saba after converting to Islam following her marriage to an Iranian Muslim in Japan.

She is one of the founding faculty members of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature at Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, University of Tehran.
