Dean of the Faculty of World History, Politics and International Relations of the North Caucasus Federal University visits the Faculty of Law and Political Science, University of Tehran
Dr. Igor Kryuchkov, Dean of the Faculty of World History, Politics and International Relations of the North Caucasus Federal University, in a meeting on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 with Dr. Mohammad Jafar Javadi Arjomand, Advisor to the Dean of Faculty of Law and Political Sciences on International Affairs at University of Tehran proposed further scientific and research cooperation and exchange of faculty members and students between the two faculties.
Introducing the North Caucasus Federal University, Dr. Kryuchkov noted that the federal universities in Russia operate under the supervision of the central government and are the most prestigious universities in the country. Moreover, the North Caucasus Federal University is among the top ten federal universities in Russia.
Referring to the position of the North Caucasus Federal University as the leader of universities in the North Caucasus region, he said that its agenda in the field of international activities is to cooperate with universities of Russia’s neighboring countries in the Caucasus and West Asia.
In this regard, the relationship with Iranian universities, especially the University of Tehran, is of particular importance for North Caucasus Federal University.
In the meeting, which was also attended by Dr. Seyed Hamed Mousavi, Director of the Center for Graduate International Studies of the University of Tehran, holding virtual seminars and scientific workshops in the form of joint summer schools was considered as one of the capacities for cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided that the draft of the Memorandum of Understanding and cooperation would be included in the administrative workflow of Tehran and North Caucasus federal universities for modifying, approval and signing by the presidents of the two universities.
During this visit, Dr. Kryuchkov met with Dr. Elaheh Koolaee, Director of the Center for Central Eurasia Studies, University of Tehran, and they discussed the forthcoming cooperation such as conducting joint research projects, publishing books and articles in common areas of interest, and cooperating for holding Russian language courses for graduate students and researchers in the field of Central Eurasian studies.
Dr. Kryuchkov then delivered a speech entitled "Iran-North Caucasus Relations at the Beginning of the 21st Century" in the Council Hall of the Department of Regional Studies, attended by a number of students and researchers in the field of Central Eurasian studies. The meeting was moderated by Dr. Shiva Alizadeh, Assistant Professor at the Department of Regional Studies of University of Tehran, who also interpreted Dr. Kryuchkov’s speech from Russian into Persian.
