UT Professor was Elected as a Member of the Council of IUSSP

Based on the election results of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), Dr. Abbasi-Shavazi, Professor of Demography at UT Faculty of Social Sciences, was elected as a member of the Union Council for another four-year tenure.

Dr. Abbasi-Shavazi is the first Iranian demographer with two decades of significant experience in developing demographic education and research.

He has established multiple demographic scientific institutions on both national and international scales and is a founding member of the Asian Population Association.

Indeed, the IUSSP, officially founded in 1928, aims to promote the scientific study of population and encourage exchange between researchers around the globe. This union has played a significant role in stimulating interest in population issues and developing population policies and programs.
