Damascus University’s High-Ranking Representatives Call for Increasing Scientific Collaboration with UT

UT PR: On March 9, a meeting was held between a number of Damascus University’s high-ranking representatives and Dr. Mohammad Rahimian, Vice President for Research at the University of Tehran. In this meeting, the two parties discussed the necessity of expanding academic collaborations between the two universities.

Remarking Iran and Syria’s cultural similarities as well as the long history of scientific cooperation between the University of Tehran and Damascus University, Dr. Rahimian gave an introduction  UT’s campuses, suggesting the Farabi Campus as a place for initiating the collaboration between the two universities. Dr. Alireza Mohammadrezaei, President of the Farabi Campus, expressed an interest in inviting several Damascus University professors to join the editorial boards of the Arabic journals published by the University of Tehran.

Prof. Isam Khouri, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Damascus University, expressed gratitude to the UT officials for their hospitality. Regarding the visit as a step toward enacting the collaboration agreement signed in 2019, Prof. Khouri also called for the development of exchange programs for students and academics in all areas, particularly in the fields of technology and engineering.

The two parties also discussed plans for developing accelerated joint courses in IT, technology, and humanities, which are to be offered on Farabi Campus.
