A delegation from Pakistan paid a visit to the College of Engineering, University of Tehran

On Tuesday, Jan. 16th, 2018 an Academic delegation from Pakistan, including Dr. Shahzad Alam (Chairman of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), Dr. Syed Mohammad Zaidi (Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science), Dr. Tahir Naeem (Director of Planning, Development and Human Resource Development of COMSATS) and Mr. Nazar Muhammad Ranjha (Commercial Counselor) visited the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), University of Tehran.

The visit started with a meeting in the office of the School. After presenting the College and its activities by Dr. Cyrus Zamani (Associate-Dean for International Affairs), Prof. M. Nili (Head of the ECE) and his team (Dr. M. Kamal and Prof. F. Taghiyareh) introduced the School, its research lines, strengths, and potentialities.

Then, Dr. Shahzad, referring to the common cultural and historical background of the two countries, emphasized that Iranian model is more suitable for Pakistani science and research development, and that Pakistan is very interested in establishment of scientific relations, doing joint research projects and scientific collaboration with the College of Engineering.

He also mentioned that they are studying the science parks around the globe in order to design a model for Pakistan, and that the Iranian model looks to be a good match. The two parties agreed to be in touch to establish joint projects and scientific relations.

In the meantime, other members of the Pakistani delegation introduced their potentialities and discussed the research lines in common between their universities and the ECE. In this regard Dr. Shahzad invited his counterparts to pay a visit to Pakistani universities. As the ending part of the program, the team visited some of the outstanding Labs of the College including: Thin Layers Lab and Antenna Lab, and also the National Lab for Brain Mapping.
